Man accused of attempted murder of three Springfield police officers cut off ankle monitor, court documents show – The Register

The man awaiting trial for the alleged attempted murder of three Springfield police officers last year cut off his ankle monitor Friday while out on $1.4 million bail, months after a judge voiced concerns about the man’s release because of a history of eluding police.

Iosif Fomich Ivanov, 38, of Woodburn didn’t make it very far, however, and was rearrested Saturday. The 10 percent bail amount — $148,000 — is now considered forfeited.

A grand jury returned a 21-count indictment against Ivanov late last year, following the Nov. 13 incident that began when a couple who live near Coburg and Harlow roads in north Eugene reported that their Cadillac Escalade had been stolen from their garage. Police later spotted the vehicle in Springfield and tried to stop it, but the driver led officers on a chase that ended in Coburg.
