Gooding Company will display three special collector cars at a New York art exhibit presented by Christie’s, placing iconic automotive forms beside valuable pieces of fine art.
The joint exhibition, with cars consigned to Gooding’s upcoming Amelia Island auction and art from Christie’s New York Spring and London sales, takes place February 8-13 at Christie’s Rockefeller Center.
“Both Gooding Company and Christie’s recognize that today’s collectors have interests that reach beyond a single category,” David Gooding, founder and president of the collector car auctioneer, said in a news release. “Our buyers are constantly in search of items of unmatched quality – whether it is a motor car, a painting or a piece of fine jewelry.”
Gooding was formerly managing director of Christie’s International Motor Cars department before starting his own auction company, which now occupies the space in Pebble Beach, California, where Christie’s once held a collector car auction during concours
