Owners of big SUVs drive their vehicles more miles every year than any other type of vehicle, according to data from a website that lists more than 4 million new and used vehicles for sale.
The Chevrolet Suburban is the most-driven car or SUV, with dealers reporting an average of 14,299 miles a year – 25.1 percent more than the average – according to auto research and shopping website iseecars.com.
The GMC Yukon, Chevy Tahoe and Toyota Sequoia – also all large SUVs – finished Nos. 2-4.
Honda’s Odyssey minivan was the only non-SUV to make the top 10. The highest Ford vehicle was the Expedition large SUV, coming in ninth with 13,112 miles drive per year.
The first shooting happened less than a month after a military family moved in to their rented southeast Killeen home. Since the first time someone fired shots at their home on Vail Drive in March, the Schuknecht family has been terrified by two more incidents of drive-by shootings, including one on Saturday.
“After this last one, we went to a hotel for the night,” said Becki Schuknecht. “They had an indoor pool so the kids could have some fun without worrying about anything.” Two of the three incidents left at least one bullet hole in her children’s rooms.
After the first two incidents Schuknecht was able to shield the knowledge from her two youngest children. “By the third time, they all knew, which was stressful.”
The children sleep in their parent’s bedroom now. “They won’t go into their bedrooms or bathrooms because of the bullet in the wall. They’re terrified,” Schuknecht said.
“With Weinstein being just one of hundreds of thousands of ‘bosses’, as … Robert Ansell in this case is, it is easy to see the direct dangers of allowing cases involving sexual harassment … to remain confidential under the guise of arbitrations,” McLaughlin’s lawyer, Jonathan Sack, wrote in one of dozens of court filings collated by Fairfax Media.
Five months later, after McLaughlin had spent $US6000 on failed mediation, the case took another dramatic turn.
While she was on holiday in April, McLaughlin was told that another staff member would conduct her end-of-year appraisals as some of her team had complained about her.
She shot back an email: “This is a set up and you know it. And because I did not simply accept the paltry 1/2 severance policy of $73,000 to go away, I need to suffer the indignation of this blatant retaliation?”
She met the bank’s US head of human resources, Austin Dowling,
Wendy Bahr has announced her decision to vacate her role as senior vice president of global partner organisation at Cisco, resigning from the vendor after 18 years.
A veteran of both Cisco and the channel, Bahr confirmed her intention to leave the tech giant via an internal email, as first reported by CRN.
“My decision came down to knowing this is the right time for me personally,” wrote Bahr, according to CRN. “I’m not sure what’s next, but I am excited for the next chapter in my career and I will leave knowing the company is firmly positioned for great success.”
Bahr will remain in the role until a replacement is hired before November, with Chuck Robbins – CEO of Cisco – taking to social media to praise the outgoing executive.
“Special thanks to @wybahr for all of your great contributions to @Cisco –
It shows that people are desperate to be offended.
I am very critical of China’s government. It’s corrupt, authoritarian, and in some respects totalitarian. I have deep reservations about Chinese culture as well. The Chinese government bans sex-selective abortions — i.e., killing females in utero — but Chinese people still do it in staggering numbers. China also practices ethnic discrimination that would be instantly recognizable as a kind of Jim Crow or apartheid if the majority Han Chinese were white and minorities such as the Uighurs were black. I could go on, but you get the point.
The reason I bring all of this up is that I want to
FRYEBURG — An unlicensed 15-year-old girl driving an SUV with seven juvenile passengers crashed into a tree before fleeing into the woods Friday morning, according to the Fryeburg Police Department.
The white 1999 Cadillac Escalade was taken without permission from a residence on Meadow Lane, Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin wrote in a statement. The crash occurred at about 3:30 a.m., police said.
Fryeburg police officers found the minors quickly. Two of them were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of injuries that were not considered life threatening. Three passengers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The names of the driver and occupants will not be released because of their young ages, Potvin said.
Potvin said criminal charges for those involved are likely.
“This crash is still under investigation,” he said. “Speed coupled with driver inattention and experience appear to be causing factors. The occupants are extremely fortunate to be
DEAR CAR TALK: I had my 2000 Cadillac Escalade towed to the mechanic, and he determined that my battery needed to be replaced. After the new battery was installed, I was informed that the “4-wheel” light on the dash was constantly on, and that the mechanic could not determine the cause.
He referred me to a dealership that specializes in Cadillacs. When I mentioned to the mechanic there that my vehicle had been hitched from the rear and towed approximately 15 miles riding on the front wheels, he suggested that that could be the cause of the light not turning off, because the vehicle should have been transported riding on top of the tow truck bed rather than being towed with the front wheels on the ground.
Could this actually be the cause of the light constantly being on, or could it be a module that needs replacing?
