Police identify two men shot dead in Salem parking lots

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday identified two men who were fatally shot at and near a Salem bar Saturday.

Sheriff’s officials say Tyler Longacre, 21, and Tobias Helms-Reese, 24, died after being struck by bullets early Saturday morning. Both men were Salem residents.

According to court records, Helms-Reese was on probation for two convictions for unlawful possession of a firearm in 2017.

A third man was injured. Police haven’t released his identity.

Police were called to Bar Fly’s, 444 Lancaster Drive NE, at 2:28 a.m. Saturday.

Inside the bar, deputies discovered two men who’d been shot. They were rushed to the hospital. One of the men survived. The other died.

Deputies believe both men were shot in the bar’s parking lot.
