HAVERHILL — A 20-year-old documented gang member and his teenage girlfriend were ordered held without bail on charges they pulled up alongside another car on Portland Street on Sunday and shot the 20-year-old male driver, sending him to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the victim and his male passenger are affiliated with gangs in Haverhill as well.
Police charged Vincente Delarosa, 20, of 98 Temple St., unit 2, Haverhill, and Taylor Couture, 542 Merrimack St., Methuen, with attempted murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a gun), unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and discharging a weapon within 500 feet of a dwelling.
Both were arraigned on the charges on Monday in Haverhill District Court, where Judge Patricia Dowling ordered them held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Monday, Jan. 29.
Court officials indicated both defendants will require superior court certified lawyers to represent them
