MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County man was injured when he was attacked Sunday by his roommates when he tried to collect the rent they owed.
A Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched at 11:50 p.m. to Colquitt Regional Medical Center to investigate an assault.
There, Elmer Villatoro, with the assistance of a translator, told police that the three men, who were all intoxicated, attacked him in the area of their residence in the 300 block of Dogwood Drive.
Villatoro also was intoxicated, police said, and told them that the men who attacked him over the rent also took his cell phone so he could not call for assistance. He got a ride to Regency Village Drive, where he was picked up by an ambulance.
Villatoro had swelling to the face and head and he was bleeding from his mouth, police said.
Due to the head injuries and Villatoro’s impairment from alcohol, police said,
