Every 2017 Buick Has Earned An NHTSA Five-Star Safety Rating

Final safety testing has officially been completed for the 2017 Buick LaCrosse, in which the National Highway Traffic Association awarded the sedan a five-star rating. With that, each of Buick’s six models has earned a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA.

This is the third consecutive year Buick has swept the safety ratings with each of its vehicles, which began in 2015. The 2017 Buick Cascada has also become the first convertible of the year to earn a five-star Overall Vehicle Store.

“We know safety is top of mind for buyers when shopping for new vehicles, and the recent ratings by NHTSA showcase our brand’s dedication to providing our customers with safe, reliable transportation,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick Sales, Service and Marketing. “We’ve launched four new vehicles in 2016 and we are extremely proud to continue to offer a lineup of award-winning vehicles that have NHTSA five-star

Salem doctor upgraded to fair condition after PDX airport accident – The Oregonian

Dr. Joel K. HopkinA Salem doctor was upgraded to fair condition today, close to three weeks after his legs were crushed between two vehicles at Portland International Airport.

The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. April 5 outside the baggage claim area.

Lt. Bob Baxter, a Port of Portland police spokesman, said a 2003 Cadillac DeVille started the chain reaction.

Carolyn Kerr, 79, of Vancouver and her husband, Donald Kerr, 83, came to the airport to pick up a passenger, Baxter said. Carolyn Kerr, who had been driving, stepped out to look for the passenger, and Donald Kerr slid behind the wheel.

“Somehow, as Mr. Kerr moved across the seat, the vehicle was accidentally put into gear and began to move forward,” Baxter said. “He might have stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake.”

Baxter said he did not anticipate any charges being filed.
