A Houston, Texas-based tuning and racing company named “Late Model Racecraft” has made a kit for the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 which boosts RWHP on their test car past 700. The company claims that they are the first aftermarket tuner to do so, and we have no reason to disbelieve it.
The YouTube video below shows a dynamometer run, where the computer prints a (ludicrous, ungodly) figure of 743 HP to the screen. Assuming a very low, 10 percent driveline loss, that would mean about 826 HP at the crank. The Z06 has been fitted with the company’s Stage II Kit, but details as to what that encompasses are nil.
And looking at the company’s website, it doesn’t seem as though they’ve begun offering any kits for the Corvette C7 for sale, let alone the supercharged Z06 model. Nevertheless, this dyno run is absolutely all sorts of exciting, not only
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A train towing a highly volatile type of oil derailed Friday in Oregon’s scenic Columbia River Gorge, igniting a fire that sent a plume of black smoke high into the sky and spurring evacuations and road closures.
Eleven cars derailed in the 96-car Union Pacific train and at least one ignited, releasing oil alongside tracks that parallel the region’s treasured Columbia River, said Aaron Hunt, a spokesman for the railroad. All the cars were carrying Bakken oil, a type of oil that is more flammable because it has a higher gas content and vapor pressure and lower flash point than other varieties.
The accident immediately drew reaction from environmentalists who said oil should not be transported by rail, particularly along a river that is a hub of recreation and commerce.
“Moving oil by rail constantly puts our communities and environment at risk,” said Jared Margolis, an attorney at the
The CTS Bold is differentiated from standard models by a large red ‘B’ badge on the rear driver’s side of the car. It’s not entirely clear what the remaining changes consist of, with Felix Weller, Cadillac Middle East director of sales and marketing, only saying customers will be able to “reap significant benefits from its enhanced equipment and agile driving dynamics.”
The Bold trim-level for the CTS is available on all 2014 CTS models and the base-level 2015 CTS with the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Pricing and a full options list for Bold editions has yet to be announced.
DETROIT — General Motors is issuing six more recalls covering a total of almost 718,000 vehicles in the U.S.
The latest recalls bring the total for GM so far this year to 60, affecting a record 29.7 million cars and trucks. GM already has passed the 22 million vehicles recalled by all automakers last year.
The biggest recall announced Wednesday was for just over 414,000 cars and small SUVs for faulty seats. Other problems include incomplete welds on seat brackets, turn signal failures, power steering failures, loose suspension bolts and faulty roof rack bolts.
According to GM, the recalls cover:
414,333 2011-2012 model year Chevrolet Camaro; 2010-2012 model year Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain; 2011-2012 Buick Regal and LaCrosse; and 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX models in the U.S. equipped with power height adjustable driver or front passenger seat structures. In these vehicles, the bolt that secures the height adjuster actuator may become loose or fall out. If the bolt falls out, the seat
Yes folks, you’re looking at a bona fide drag car, more specifically the fastest NHRA Super Stocker ever built. Yeeah.
Built and tuned by legendary engine builder Kenny Duttweiler, this insane 1987 Buick Regal uses a twin-turbo 209ci V6 to produce a monumental 1,292 hp and 872 lb-ft of torque– that’s twice the horsepower of a new Z06 under your right foot. Holy *insert expletive* is right.
The listing also claims it’s the only Super Stocker ever to run in the 7’s, having performed an NHRA certified 7.98 at 167.4 MPH on May 1, 2003. And that’s not even the NHRA record, which it also holds.
The record pass was set on May 17, 2004, with a staggering 7.81 second run
