Four people were injured in this crash north of Dallas Friday afternoon.

A 92-year-old man was critically injured Friday when he attempted to drive across Oregon 22 north of Dallas and was struck by an oncoming vehicle, the Oregon State Police reported.

Couples coping with infertility face uphill battle

At 13, Erica Brongo learned that a congenital heart defect and pulmonary hypertension meant carrying a child to term would risk her life.

The news didn’t matter much to her then, but now Brongo is 31 and has been researching surrogacy options for two years.

She and her boyfriend of four years have scheduled an appointment with a genetic counselor to learn more about freezing embryos for a potential surrogate. It feels good to move forward, to have something to do while waiting for the child they want.

Then, the financial reality hits:

It will cost about $10,000 to freeze embryos, and surrogacy could easily cost $50,000 after all fees and insurance costs, which have risen recently, are considered.

“It stresses me out,” says

Caitlyn Jenner unlikely to face jail time if convicted in crash

LOS ANGELES — Caitlyn Jenner could face up to a year in jail on a vehicular manslaughter charge if she is convicted but jail time would be unlikely, an accident reconstructionist says.

Sheriff’s investigators found Jenner was driving unsafely when she caused a chain-reaction crash that killed a woman last February, officials said Thursday.

Jenner was hauling an off-road vehicle on a trailer behind her Cadillac Escalade on Feb. 7 when she steered to avoid cars slowing for a traffic light in front of her on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Jenner was unable to stop in time and her SUV rear-ended two cars, pushing a Lexus into oncoming traffic and also hitting a Toyota Prius. The Lexus driver, 69-year-old Kim Howe, was killed when her car was struck head-on by a Hummer.

Daniel W. Vomhof, an accident reconstructionist, said the additional weight from towing a loaded trailed makes it more difficult to

Oregon’s ‘Military Mistress’ stopped and released in Alabama, police say

UPDATE: Oregon’s wanted ‘Military Mistress’ released in Alabama; sheriff wants to know why

A woman famous for marrying 15 servicemen and wanted in Oregon for check fraud turned up Tuesday morning in Alabama, officials said.

Bobbi Ann House and her latest husband, Zackerie House, were stopped by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office in southern Alabama about 9:45 a.m. Officials there said the Houses were living in a vehicle with a dog.

The officials seized the vehicle, which was listed as stolen, but released the couple because the pair hadn’t been charged with crimes in that jurisdiction.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon has probable cause to arrest the Houses for theft by deception and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, both felonies.

The couple wrote $13,500 in insufficiently funded checks in March, officials said. Their purchases began on the Oregon coast, but by March 30 they had made their way to Oklahoma, where they

Dave Dahl of Dave’s Killer Bread wins conditional release, avoids state hospital

Dave Dahl isn’t allowed to drive or hang out in taverns, but he can go home.

A Washington County judge spared him Friday from a stay in the Oregon State Hospital.

The judge decided instead to keep him on conditional release, under the supervision of the state Psychiatric Security Review Board, with a slew of requirements including the judge’s specific ban on bars and cars.

Which, Dahl later said, didn’t bother him at all.

“I’ll ride a bike,” he said with a laugh. “I’ll take the bus.”

In court, the 52-year-old cofounder of Dave’s Killer Bread, nodded at the judge’s decision. And at the end of the nearly five-hour hearing, he turned around and smiled.

Circuit Judge Kirsten Thompson, who made the ruling Friday evening, found Dahl guilty except for insanity in October on charges of third-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon — in this case, a black Cadillac Escalade.

The charges stemmed
