Big Sky Notes: Twice spurned, Stitt lands on his feet

It’s a good bet that Bob Stitt already has had his laugh of redemption, at least under his breath.

Now, nobody’s going so far as to say the guy holds a grudge, and by now, it would be irrelevant.

However, the fact remains that Stitt, who earned a graduate degree at the University of Northern Colorado in 1989, wanted to coach the Bears football team in the worst way.

Twice.

Two times he fell short in the interview process.

Eventually, UNC named Scott Downing as the head coach and Earnest Collins Jr. to succeed him.
