“To pull Freedom Park, which was essentially a field, into an excellent site … the event ran so smoothly … We kept waiting for a shoe to drop and nothing did. It was amazing.”
In addition to city staff, Ard also thanked volunteers for their help – whether it was manning the welcome center or assisting veterans any way they could upon their arrival.
Friday was school visitation day in which students from New Richmond, Osceola, home schools, and Somerset visited.
Saturday was marked by a program which included speakers, including former Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Ray Boland.
In addition, on Saturday and Sunday, Vietnam veterans in attendance were presented special lapel pins that won’t be officially available to veterans across the country until this coming November.
Ard didn’t have an accurate count on the number of people who attended over the four days, but
