Horsham Man, 20, Charged With Murdering Elderly Man

A Horsham man has
been charged with first degree murder in connection with a stabbing that
happened Wednesday in the Hatboro section of Upper Moreland Township.

Authorities say
Jeffrey William Anderson, 20, killed 72-year-old William Neill Wednesday afternoon.

Montgomery County
District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and Upper Moreland Township Police Chief
Michael Murphy announced the charges Friday.

According to police,
officers were called Wednesday at 3 p.m. for a report of a stabbing at 210
Newington Drive in the Hatboro section of Upper Moreland Township.

The responding
officers detained Anderson, who was attempting to flee the scene in the
victim’s Cadillac Escalade, police said.

When police went
inside the residence, they found Neill dead from apparent stab wounds,
according to authorities.

Anderson’s mother told
authorities her son said he stabbed Neill because he tried to sexually assault
